Hello, I'm Katharine
I'm passionate about everyone having the opportunity to enjoy being outside and appreciate the beauty of nature.
I have experienced how powerful it is to have your own garden sanctuary that reflects you and the way that you want to live. Being able to enjoy nature at close quarters has dramatic positive benefit on wellbeing.
I spent many years as a primary school teacher and maths advisor before retraining to follow my passion for design full time. I achieved a distinction in my garden design diploma with Garden Design School under the tutelage of Robin Templar Williams.
I now design gardens with biodiversity and sustainability in mind, carefully considering each detail to ensure that every space settles gently into its surroundings.
Whether you are dreaming of a place to relax, play, or entertain, my eye for design and attention to detail ensures that each project reaches its full potential.

My Story
My passion for outdoor spaces began as a small child taken on ‘garden walks’ by my Grandparents. Their tiny garden spaces behind red brick terraces gave them so much joy and fulfilment, that they also filled me with wonder.
After a career in education, creating outdoor spaces for young people to learn about the environment, I realised my dream to change my career path and fully embrace my passion for garden design. I trained at the internationally renowned Garden Design School under the tutelage of Robin Templar Williams where I qualified with distinction.
Katharine Thomson Garden Design is a Wiltshire based design studio, working with clients across the south west and beyond. I offer a fully comprehensive service to clients seeking to renovate their outdoor space.
I have a keen eye for spatial design and draw elements together so that they work seamlessly. My designs carefully consider the detail of each garden, actively encouraging biodiversity to ensure that they settle gently into their surroundings.
I work with each client to identify the right materials and plants to suit their individual preference, space and budget in order to deliver their dream space.
No two gardens are the same and therefore no two projects are ever the same.
