Cheerful Chippenham
The Full Story
Founded by Katharine in 2023, Cheerful Chippenham is a community group focussing on green positivity.
The group centres around the annual Good Front Garden Awards. Each summer, over 2500 awards are given out by a team of dedicated volunteers.
The awards celebrate residents who green up their front gardens with planting, making Chippenham a nicer place to live by brightening streets, supporting wildlife and enhancing the look and feel of the town.
The organisation recognises the care, creativity and community spirit shown across Chippenham via social media with a facebook group where recipients can post pictures of their gardens and their awards. This has become a joyful place for residents to celebrate each other's achievements.
In 2023 the awards received a visit from Arit Anderson as part of a feature filmed for BBC Gardener's World.
Mission
To encourage and celebrate residents who plant up their front gardens, helping to make Chippenham greener, more welcoming and more wildlife-friendly, one garden at a time.
